- Use simple materials. You don’t need a ton of fancy supplies. Everyday household items—like crayons, paper, and blocks—can be used in countless activities to teach letters, numbers, colors and shapes.
- Make learning playful. The best way for preschoolers to learn is through play. Turn learning activities into games, songs, or crafts that engage their imagination. For example, try making letter matching cards with fun pictures to reinforce letter recognition!
- Create an activity basket. Keep your preschool activities organized by creating an activity basket full of the supplies your child uses most often. This could include crayons, glue sticks, scissors, counting bears, or even a few of your favorite printables. Having everything in one place will make it easier to grab supplies when you’re ready to start an activity, saving you time and effort!
- Stay flexible. Some days will be more challenging than others. If your child isn’t in the mood for a particular activity, it’s okay to skip it and try something else. The key is to keep things light and fun (try not to stress when things don’t go as planned)!
- Take breaks. Preschoolers need time to move! Incorporate physical activities, like dancing or playing outside, into your daily routine to give them a chance to burn off energy and refocus.
